SPRING Weather – At The Beach – Ocean City Maryland

Oh how times have changed. I remember those days when we resided in the Washington DC suburbs, College Park Maryland, in the 70′s and 80′s and were experiencing a very warm few days in April or May and decided to get to the beach in Ocean City MD or the Delaware Beaches! It was impossible then to really obtain real weather information for the coastal areas from remote cities, and upon arrival At The Beach in the spring, we were surprised it was usually about 10 degrees cooler, with a quite different climate than we had just departed from. None the less, it was exhiliarating and we surely didn’t regret our trip to the beach for a week end away from the city. If your an infrequent visitor to the Maryland and Delaware coastal beach areas, temperatures in the spring often depend upon the wind direction, as the ocean water temperature is still in the 40′s and rising of course, so a wind off the ocean will bring our air temperatures 10 degrees or so lower than any inland areas. HOWEVER, WE ALWAYS enjoyed the briskness of the beach in the spring, and also the salt air you breath, and the spirit it can put in your body. Just bring a sweater and light jacket!
