Ocean City Md opened the new North End Public Bus Transit Center in September 2006. Located at 144th ST. and Coastal Hwy, just two blocks south of Fenwick Island Delaware at the Delaware State Line, CLICK HERE TO MAP IT the new center is a welcome addition to the Town of Ocean City Md transportation (bus) facilities. The facility offers public restrooms, and a sheltered waiting area for those utilizing the city bus system. It is also the connect point for the DART (Delaware) public transit bus system which routes North into Delaware as far as Rehoboth Beach DE. One might consider using the public bus during peak summer months or heavy traffic week ends when heading south from locations in the Northerly portions of Ocean City md and from Delaware communities towards Southerly destinations in Ocean City MD including the Ocean City Boardwalk, since you eliminate any parking fees if you drive your car to the inlet or side street parking areas, and eliminate the anquish of finding parking spaces. There is some FREE parking on the adjoining side streets at the North Ocean City MD transit station so you can park n ride to the boardwalk or other destinations within Ocean City Md. As an aside comment, recently the Town of Ocean City Md authorized and spent some $28,000 of taxpayers money to pay for all toll fees for visitors crossing the Chesapeake Bay heading to the Eastern Shore from DC, VA and MD regions as a way to promote Ocean City Maryland. Wouldn’t it have possibly been better to promote the BUS system and offer FREE RIDERSHIP for the Fall Sunfest with these funds??? .. or for other major week end events. Encouraging public transportation in Ocean City Md is the way to go and certainly families would consider using the system more if they were offered a great weekend to experience the ease of use and not having to worry about finding a parking place or the expense of parking if they drive their cars to the Ocean City MD boardwalk area during the summer or to special events located in the southerly portion of Ocean City Md.
